The Author
Keira North is a queer, nonbinary author whose work blends literary genres to challenge the tried-and-true, from subverting Eastern-European myths and archetypes to deconstructing monogamy as the only way to love. Novels like To Bloom Again and The Rivers Will Run Red deal with identity, loss, and wrestling a happily ever after from a world that never meant to give it away.
Originally from western Romania, Keira lived and worked across Europe, Canada and Japan before settling on the rainy British Columbia coast. Their stories are as wonderfully varied as the people and places who inspired them.
"Stay afraid, but do it anyway. What's important is the action. You don't have to wait to be confident. Just do it and eventually the confidence will follow." Carrie Fisher
Interviews & Recognition
"I wanted my characters to feel like real people rather than characters moving through a scripted plot, so I wove every facet of them into the story: their past, their present, who they are, what they want, who they love… and all of these things are connected."
"When I was about 11, we got cable for the first time and I stepped into the world of Marvel cartoons (X-Men, Spider-Man, etc.) I wrote my first “novel” the same year, a fan story about the X-Men going on holiday. I still have it somewhere."

"Something as simple as living your own truth can feel like death by a thousand cuts sometimes. Dead-naming, misgendering, dysphoria, suicidal thoughts… each one of them is a cut, and each cut leaves a mark."
